Following her debut, Pathos and Exaltation, in 2007, Kellie Cox has explored an increasing range of compositional styles and techniques from the strictest composition to free improvisation. She says, "Over a period of several years I have realised that the music itself needs to lead the compositional process, not the composer or the audience. This may sound bizarre, but music which is lead by a desire to please an audience is generally forced down a road it does not wish to go, so I prefer to let the music lead me - sometimes giving it completely free reign, but at other times keeping it securely on the leash until I know it is ready to go."

Kellie continues work on her new album, which brings together all of these techniques and forms and combines the songwriting for which she has become known with less familiar instrumental writing.
